The only reason I'm not rating Northwood Animal Hospital as a 1/5 is solely due to Amanda. Amanda has demonstrated great compassion and understanding toward my fiance and I while we have been battling for months to get our two kittens well. I wish I could say the same for other staff.
My fiance and I have taken one our kittens to Northwood three times and the other has been seen twice. We have tried several different things to help them get better, and for a while it appeared as though their treatments were helpful. However, after they completed their medications, their problems returned.
My fiance and I have called several times this week to discuss other treatment options. We are especially feeling the pressure to help our kittens get better because we will soon be moving to a new home, and we will be forced to introduce our adult cat to the kittens. We have been worried that the kittens may pass along whatever illness/disease/problem they have to our other cat, and then all three of our cats will be sick.
I called today because one of the kittens had diarrhea last night. I was told I would be placed on hold, but someone must have made a mistake because I was not placed on hold, and I could overhear the staff's conversation concerning our situation. What I overheard on the phone was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. I even believe I heard the Dr. Clark say she didn't want to talk with us for another 30 minutes. So sorry to bother you, but we are tired of our cats having loose stool/diarrhea/bloody stool for going on two months. We wish we had perfectly healthy cats and didn't have to call you. We never intended on being difficult; we have simply been concerned cat parents.
Needless to say, we will not be returning based on this experience. This was unbelievable. We have spent a lot of money on vet visits for our kittens, and every time we are told that they appear to be healthy. We can't help but feel like we are being asked to bring in the kittens so that the facility can make more money. I feel like our kittens' health is not being seen as a priority. Perhaps this is wrong, but I am simply stating how my fiance and I have been feeling.
