I don't think I've ever actually bought anything here, but I love checking this place first because of the staff. They are SO friendly, in a generous and genuine way, and they'll help me as much as they can, even if that means suggesting another retailer for what I need.
The store is pleasant to walk through and has kind of a cabin-y feel with creaking wood floors. The merchandise is plentiful but not crowded.
I am not a sporty person, nor an outdoorsy one, so I don't buy a lot of specialized clothing or equipment and therefore can't really judge the value of those things here. I just wanted a light rain jacket for walking around London, not a reinforced, padded, breathable, waterproof specialty jacket, so the items here looked quite expensive to me. They may be industry standard though; I just don't have the expertise to say.
If you ARE sporty or outdoorsy, swing by here first. They're super nice, and you can at least have a pleasant experience.
