FURNITURE MARKET TRAVELERS BEWARE! So I live locally and our pump went out in our well. I booked online and really just wanted my family and I to get a shower and a good night's rest. I get to the hotel and was told that I was not charged correctly on tax so they needed to charge me the difference. I was told it was $.79. Ok, I am tired and just want a shower so I gave the lady my card. We get to the room which was very basic but ok. We begin to take showers and all a sudden the fire alarm is going off. I am panicing and telling my family to get dressed and run outside. then the phone rings and it is the front desk telling me it is coming from my room. She asked was I smoking? Really, no! I said is there a fire? Like why are you questioning me on the phone when I need to be evacuating. With soaking wet hair and standing out int the cold with the other guests. the fire trucks come and I learn from a group of men that were staying there inform me that this was the 3 time this week this has happened. Supposedly the steam from showers is what is causing the alarms to go off. Now the lady that called me knew this had been happneing. They could have warned me of this prior to. It makes sense now why she found no issue with trying to keep me on the phone when a VERY loud alarm is going off. I called this morning asking for the General Manger and spoke with Julie. She was quick to first say they do not offer discounts or refunds. And let me knot forget that the $.79 I was told I needed to pay for the difference of the tax..my card was charged $1.00, not $.79. Trust me when I tell you I will be monitoring the activity on my card very closely. She begin to tell me they informed the Firefighters that the county requires them to place the dectors in a particular place. This issue is not the Fire Departments fault, this is not my fault. This is COMFORT INN's issue and the Genreal Manager needs to get it together! I will never stay at this hotel again and I promise I will share my experience with every person I know. Buyer and travelers be aware! Horrible response to very scary situation.
